Miyama is a town with an estimated population of 5,070, located approximately in the center of Kyoto prefecture. It is a town with rich nature, surrounded by three mountains of 800-900 m altitude – Mt. Mikuni, Mt. Tokin and Mt. Choro. Yuragawa River flows through the center of the town, connecting the three mountains. On January 2006, four towns in the area have merged and become the city of Nantan, but the administrative region itself continues to be called Miyama.
