Gomadaki, Homa fired, the Buddhist rite of burning wood sticks
I experienced Homa burning, the Buddhist rite of burning wood sticks first time.
It was so spiritual and exotic.
I visited Mudouji temple (means no move) at Bungo-Takada, Kunisaki Peninsula, Oita southern japan.
Mid-October at 4PM, our car drove through the slightly coloured trees mountains and finally arrived Mudouji temple.
When we arrived the temple, the priest just finished preparation the Homa Burning ceremony.
We opened the long-dried shrunk wood and old fashioned handmade grass door, when I opened the door I smelled citrus based incense.
Almost 1 hour my eyes and soul sticked to fire and voice.elt
I felt sweating myself.
It’s really different from my culture.
You must take off your sneaker to enter the holy temple, bring warmer socks.
